I have been MTurking for quite a while now. I started because it sounded interesting to see what others were studying, wanting to know or wanting help with, and it quickly became addicting. I am using the money I earn completing MTurk projects to buy Christmas presents for the family (through Amazon.com of course). It is sometimes difficult to make time to do MTurk work, but I do not let a week go by without completing at least one project. MTurk projects have been fun, occasionally challenging, and sometimes downright intimidating. I have had great joy in stretching to complete some of the tasks I have accepted. It is great to get that weekly email telling me how many hits and how much money I have made in the prior week. I get to see how much closer I am getting to my $ goal by December 1st. As I am getting closer to retirement and full time boat living, it is a great time for me to also explore what I can be doing to earn a little extra spending money without being tied to land. In addition, as a nurse working in health care, MTurk gives me other arenas to participate in. I have time on my hands, between work and volunteering, I might as well make a few dollars when I have time to get online. I have told all of the kids about MTurk and they too are enjoying the projects and the money they make.
Life at mturk. I recently joined mturk so that I can make a few extra bucks. I’m not aiming for much. I just want to make enough to be able to buy a GPS system. I graduated from University two years ago and I have a well-paid job at an international company. However, my parents are nearing retirement. I am going to get married soon and I just bought a new house in preparation for my wedding. I feel that even with my above average salary, I am not making enough money to feel secure. In case the economy gets worst and I lose my job, I would be really worried about losing everything I have. The first thing is I would lose my house. The second thing is my parents would be worried. Finally, what will my fiancé think if I lost my job? Although many are losing their jobs, I feel that it would be a shame if my fiancé had to work to be able to support me. Maybe I have that male ego thing, but I just feel that I should be able to support my family. It should be time for my parents to settle into retirement and not have to worry about finances. When I look at the future, I feel that I will be working for many years to support my family. This is a lot of pressure in my mind. Maybe everybody have this kind of pressure, but I just feel like life is passing by too quickly and I’m missing out on different things. There are many things I want to do, but I can’t. I have a duty to support the family. Is that a selfish thought?
I have been a Mechanical Turker since last month. I had looked into it before, but never had enough time to do it and make it worthwhile. Now I am out of school and looking for a full-time job, and it is great to be able to make a little money from home. I like the freedom of being able to choose the jobs I do and pick how much or how little I will work every day. The tasks don’t always pay much, but it pays for coffee and movies and other little things that I might not otherwise have money in my budget to buy. Most of them only pay a few cents, but even if I only earn a dollar or two a day, in the end it adds up and some tasks even offer bonus payments for good work. The income is a nice supplement to my savings, and I enjoy being able to pick from a variety of tasks. The tasks can be visual, audio, or writing, so I rarely get bored doing all the different kinds of tasks on the site. Since most of them are short, and don’t require any special knowledge, this site is ideal for people like me, who don’t always have long periods of time available to be on the computer, or who like the freedom to be able to work at odd hours. I’m glad I found this site and have time to earn a few dollars a day.
I found mechanical turk when looking to make some extra money on the internet. Did a few tasks, and was like, “this is kind of fun!” I made a goal to earn enough money to at least buy my children’s birthday presents for the year. I earned enough to purchase my middle child’s birthday gift in a little under a month. Granted, the gift she chose was fairly inexpensive, but it made me feel good that I was able to earn enough money on the side to make the purchase for her without dipping into our household money. I am currently saving for my other daughter’s birthday gift, and will then be working on Christmas and other birthday gifts. I enjoy mTurk because I can sit and do HITs while watching TV, or even some of the “mindless” ones while talking to my children. While it’s never going to make me rich, and while I would never be able to live off of the pay alone, it’s been a nice cash infusion and I continue to complete HITs when I am in the mood for as long as the service exists.
I wanted to have a little extra cash to buy my mom exactly what she wanted for her birthday so I decided to use mechanical turk. I was very hesitant at first, knowing about all the scams that plague ‘internet fast cash’, and while this is certainly not fast cash- it is actual money. Made a dollar my first day with minimal stress, and I figure even if make a dollar a day until the day of my moms birthday it will be enough to buy what I want. I’m glad I have an opportunity outside of my regular work to earn extra cash. My favorite type of tasks are the surveys because they’re usually quick and simple and don’t take a lot of higher level thinking. I can easily zip through them and know that I will have completed all the tasks rather than having to worry about getting them rejected because of incompleteness due to bogus rules. I have also found that some HITS are close to impossible, so I really try to stay away from those. I’ve told a few of my friends about mechanical turk but they mostly don’t believe me or believe it is a scam [I guess we’ll see!]. All in all, it has so far been a very good experience. If this works out I could see me using mechanical turk in the future frequently due to the ease of working from home and working from my computer. I am very happy with Amazon.
