Writing a memoir, now there is an interesting task

Writing a memoir, now there is an interesting task. Now that I am sliding down the other side of fifty, I suppose I should have something to say. My life has been, if nothing else, interesting. I have spent a very large part of my life on one side of a hospital bed or another. My profession, till I became too disabled to work was bedside nursing. One might think that an odd choice for someone who spends as much time as I do as a patient. Alas, I have found that it is only in the hospital setting that my sense of humor is really appreciated. If you remember the type of humor heard in the movie “Mash” (I suppose that is only for those of you old enough to remember), that would be my style of humor. It usually doesn’t go over very well at weddings, dinner parties, or Bar Mitzva’s! Spouses, friends (unless they are nurses), and your basic stranger on the street typically see little to laugh about in the midst of illness, blood, and gore. Those of us who must deal with these things on a daily basis usually find humor a very good tool to keep up the positive attitude required to persevere and continue on. Turk on my friends!!!
