About This Blog

I hope to God I am accepted

My name is April. I am a 30-year-old woman. I have been with my boyfriend for eight years. We still are not married. We do not have wealthy families, or even middle class families. We are both hard workers who are just trying to get the rent paid. I have tried to get him to agree to go to the courthouse and just sign the papers. He is adamant about celebrating the occasion with friends and family and wants to be married by a preacher in a church. That costs money, lots more money than we have. Any extra money we ever have on hand is used for groceries or car repairs. I have been attending night school since 2007, working towards a Registered Nursing Degree. Next quarter I will finish the last of my pre-requisites. Getting into nursing school here in the south is almost impossible despite the shortage of nurses. You have to have a very high GPA and they prefer you to have clinical experience. You cannot get clinical experience without some kind of certificate, however. I have been working as a bookkeeper for the past three years during the day to get the bills paid. So, I haven’t had time to even do volunteer work. I hope to God I am accepted. I know if I work hard and be diligent, I will succeed. I have a 3.56 GPA right now and I have to hope that will be enough. I know I will make a wonderful, caring, effective nurse if only I can be given the chance to prove it.
