I am an old woman now

I am an old woman now, but I was once a beautiful fashion model, living in one of the North’s most populous cities and enjoying life to the fullest. Foolishly, as young and desirable females can sometimes be, I fell in love with a married man who said he loved me back. He may have, but he also loved his wife and he could not leave her, nor did he. When I came to my senses, I was lucky enough to find another love with no baggage and to whom I hitched myself, physically and legally. However, that past life in the Northeast did not prepare me for living in a hurricane zone: the roar, the flooding, the shaking house or the damage they cause to it. I am totally terrified of them, but my choice was to live alone, sans Naval Officer husband, or move to the tropics with him. So, here I am, stiffened with fear six months out of each year. I found Amazon Mechanical Turk work, thanks to the information on my internet server’s home page. Believe it or not, it saved my sanity during several storm aftermaths when, after power was restored, I was able to stick myself in front of my computer and wile away the hours by taking surveys, writing stories, giving advice from experience and making some extra cash doing it. I am thankful that for the other six months of each year, I am not digging myself out of a snow bank.
