Due to the current global recession, I lost my job last year
Due to the current global recession, I lost my job last year. For five months I tried hard but was not successful in finding a job of my choice. I was working as a manager in a reputed firm, but the jobs that were available to me were for a much lesser designation and salary. I was devastated. I went into depression. Life seemed worthless. My situation deteriorated so much that I had to take medical help. Stress levels were high. Finances were low. I’m 31 years old and have been working for the past 10 years. I’d worked very hard to reach the position I’m in and I did not want to compromise on that. Also sitting at home doing nothing was very frustrating as I was used to a busy life. Finally at the beginning of this year a friend of mine introduced me to Mturk. He said since I’m home and I have time on hand, why not give it a try? So I decided to do so. Since then I’ve been working on Mturk about 2-3 hours a day and at least I’m earning something. My time is occupied now and I’m gaining some knowledge. I try and pick interesting tasks and I try to give my best as far as quality goes. I was always very much interested in Psychological experiments so whenever I get a chance to participate in such experiments on Mturk, I always do so. This site is really a like a God-sent for me, because now I’m out of depression and to some extent I give the credit for that to Mturk. I stay busy and I feel I’m doing something productive. Though the amounts I’m earning is definitely nothing compared to what I was earning during my work life, but at least it’s something. Ands like they say “Something is better than nothing”. I’m sure that even when I get a job now, I will continue working on Mturk, solely because I’ve started enjoying it. The concept of this site is great and whoever got the idea to create such a site, where people can earn online, it’s amazing. I wish though that it would pay a little more. Coz if it does, I and many more like me would actually want to consider it as a full time employment option.
